ADP Workforce NowThere's no downside. ZayZoon has actually helped us scale. It's obviously a benefit to our employees to offer earned wage access. The system itself is straightforward and user-friendly, and it has the ability to run the same processes regardless of location.
Challenge
There's no single Canadian HR rulebook, and The West Egg Group operates under five of them. BC is the most heavily regulated. Ontario broadly follows it. Quebec is an outlier on almost everything, and Alberta's oil sands set the country's highest safety bar. Every new province brings its own employment standards, safety law and reporting.
"You have to know the intricacies of each individual province. It's just getting familiar, because the provinces are all slightly different."
Osaduke had scaled HR nationally before, so the complexity didn't surprise her. Her challenge was building that knowledge into her team: training them to know the differences and to flag them to operations before they turn into problems. Her workforce was mostly frontline (valets, crossing guards, security guards, parking officers, event staff), spread across sites, shifts and two official languages.
Solutions
Introducing on-demand pay was a way to strengthen West Egg’s ability to attract and retain frontline employees in a competitive labour market. Leadership supported the idea: employees had already earned their wages, so why not give them access sooner?
With operations spanning five provinces, West Egg needed a benefit that was easy to implement, simple for HR and employees to use, and consistent across all locations. ZayZoon delivered on all fronts without adding complexity or increasing the administrative burden.
West Egg has since invited almost all eligible employees to use ZayZoon. The company has also embraced ZayZoon’s recognition feature, with employees receiving shoutouts from managers and peers.
"The system itself (ZayZoon) is straightforward and user-friendly, and it has the ability to run the same processes regardless of location."

Samantha Osaduke has never worked in the same industry twice, and she counts that as her advantage. Over a decade, she’s worked across luxury retail, construction, capital markets, employee assistance and tech, and gained a postgraduate HR certificate, an occupational health and safety certificate, and her CHRP designation. The phone could ring at 6 a.m. and again at 11 p.m; Osaduke built her reputation in the hard parts of the job.
At The West Egg Group, Osaduke led HR nationally for roughly 2,500 employees across five provinces in both English and French. Her remit covered health and safety, benefits, compensation, payroll, employee relations, policy and labour relations, including a collective agreement.
In 2025, The Peak named her one of Canada's Emerging Leaders in the People and Culture category. She was also shortlisted for Toast × BetaKit's Top 25 Women in Tech and nominated for the WomenTech Network's Women in Tech Global Awards. She calls this moment in HR, with AI and post-pandemic work being reinvented at once, a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
