We are looking for an organized, efficient Accounting Assistant with an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy. This position will play a key role in the Finance team supporting account and clerical duties while collaborating on activities across different departments. As our Accounting Assistant you will have the opportunity to contribute to updating financial records, processing business transactions and ensuring the team has all relevant data points aligning with period end closures. This is an exciting role that will provide experience into the varied functions of an accounting and finance team, with the opportunity to help the department scale in a growing company.

  • Create and manage a systematic filing system
  • Collect and sort invoices and supporting documentation
  • Collect supporting documentation for all spending activities to record in the accounting system(MS 365 Business Central)
  • Investigate and resolve support documentation issues in a timely manner
  • Assist with preparation of expense reports
  • Support executive staff by performing accounting tasks
  • Assist with documentation of policies, processes and procedures
  • Assist with analysis of key financial accounts and investigation, preparing various ad hoc reporting, accounting projects, and other admin or accounting related tasks as required

  • Accounting Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • 1+ year professional experience in a similar role 
  • Experience with accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures
  • Records maintenance skills
  • Problem solving with demonstrated analytical skills
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities to own initiatives from start to finish 
  • Proficiency in accounting programs and related software 
  • Strong business and written communication skills.

 Bonus points if you have 

  • Experience in a start up or scale up technology company

Candidates must be based in Canada in order to be considered.

We are organized as a remote team, as such we are looking for candidates who can work effectively remotely. You must have access to a secure high speed internet connection and a secure workspace to ensure security of private information. This role is available on a permanently remote basis.
